Le Marche by the Sea

Explore the Marche region from the coast with kayak or sup.

Le Marche by the Sea is a kayak or sup 5-day journey to discover the Italian region of Marche by the sea, through natural parks, sandy beaches full of colourful bathing establishments, maritime cultural traditions, warm local hospitality, culinary marvels, history and beauty, and a dreamy view of the hills.

A journey across the diverse landscapes from Romagna to Abruzzo, in five days, each leg with logistic support on land. Nature, sport, culture, food&wine, the Adriatic coast, and the beautiful hills of Marche.

Discover the trip day by day

The first leg of this fascinating journey brings us to the border with the Riviera Romagnola: from the stylish bathing establishments of Gabicce Mare to the woods of the Regional Park of Monte San Bartolo, with beautiful beaches and picturesque hamlets overlooking the sea, like Casteldimezzo, which can be reached through a path surrounded by greenery. After 13 km we reach the Rossinian Pesaro, and, with a superb view of Mount Ardizio, we continue towards Fano, for a total distance of 25 km (the short way to Pesaro is 13 km)

Against an enchanting backdrop of smooth hills arising from the coast, the second leg of our journey leads us along a fine-sand beach with lively bathing establishments that offer an opportunity to unwind and enjoy the colours of the Adriatic coast. We come to the Spiaggia di Velluto (Velvet Beach) of Senigallia, with its “Rotonda a mare” as our arrival point for the day. Senigallia, fanciful and regal, will be the perfect setting for a sparkling evening between the seafront and the “Rocca Roveresca”, with gourmet dishes of the local cuisine and Verdicchio wine. To complete the evening, you can’t miss a gelato at the Gelateria Brunelli. Distance 25 km.

The third day is dedicated to the natural beauty of the Riviera del Conero: crystalline sea, lovely hamlets overlooking beautiful landscapes, pinewoods extending down to the sea, small white-sand coves and a splendid Romanic church. We will cover only a short distance and explore the marvels of Conero, from Portonovo to the beaches of Trave, Sassi Neri, Gabbiani, Due Sorelle, San Michele, until Numana bay. Snorkeling and relax, immersed in the intimacy of nature. Evening in the magic of Sirolo, the pearl of the Adriatic coast, with its panoramic view on the Leopardian “Infinito”. Distance 14 km.

From the lush hills of Fermano, we gently descend to the sea over the pine forest of Porto Sant’Elpidio and cross the long free beaches of Porto San Giorgio where you can breathe a homegrown atmosphere. Will make base and spend the evening time in the suggestive Torre di Palme: an ancient and fascinating village, an opportunity to savor the authentic specialties of the Fermo that combine the countryside with the coast, such as Campofilone tagliatelle and shellfish to accompany Passerina wine.

We come to the Piceno area of Marche. We leave San Benedetto and its touristic Riviera delle Palme, with its fancy chalets where to savour a gelato or an elaborate dish, and we proceed towards the border between Marche and Abruzzo and the mouth of the Tronto River, the symbolical end of our journey. Here we’ll find one of the last uncontaminated shorelines of the Adriatic coast: the Sentina Natural Regional Reserve, untamed and austere, with its suggestive dunes and unique salty meadows. Evening in the most characteristic and renowned town of Piceno, with a history that dates back to prehistoric times: Ascoli. A night removed from the coast, among olives and mountain dishes, Falerio wine and the sweet taste of Anisette. Distance 25 km
